This student is exceptional in the way they channel their curiosity. They were in a position where the only way to get to school was to walk, everyday, rain or shine. With this, it was only natural to stay aware of your surroundings, so much so that they began to study the plants and animals, a previous interest of the student, that accompanied them on their walk to school everyday. With the same curiosity, they began to document all the flora on the route and the properties that the plants possessed. Over time, the documentation turned into creation, as the student would then collect the flora and would turn them into topical ointments and teas for the student’s single parent. This inspired the student to aim high for the highest level of profession in medicine.

After taking in all this extraordinary work, it was obvious that all of this would be communicated to all the student’s schools. We incorporated this in all of the essays, me recommendation letter, and even made copies of pages in the student’s journal to demonstrate the application of her knowledge and the result of her curiosity. This resulted in getting a full-ride scholarship from not only the student’s first-choice school, but also from almost every school they applied to, becoming the top scholarship earner in the graduating class with over $1.25 million.
